The IPCC Sixth Report, August 2021

The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has just released its Sixth Report on the effects of climate change and it it pretty damning and scary stuff. There can no longer be any doubt that the current effects on our climate is anthropogenic in nature and there will be drastic consequences over the next 50 years. The question remains whether humans have the (political) will to actually do something about it and mitigate the worst effects.

Combating Global Warming

I'm a regular listener to the podcast 'The Skeptics Guide to the Universe' and I'd highly recommend it for all scientific and critical thinkers.

In this clip a panel of scientists is discussing possible future efforts by humans to combat global warming (in other words to artificially create a negative feedback loop). They conclude that such efforts are possibly doomed to failure, and at worst might even exacerbate the situation:
